THE PRODIGALS' FAMILY
I have been studying the Parable of the Prodigal son Luke 15:11-32. & i want to share with you some of my findings:1. Everyone is a product of a family vs 11. A man had 2 sons. The man had a wife even though nothing is said abt her. A prince, a servant, a thief, a prostitute, a mad man, a politician, a pastor & a hired killer are all products of a family. What a man becomes is Largely dependent on the type of family he/she comes from. That is why God commands parents to train their children well Prov 22:6. Every member of the family has responsibities. Failure in our roles lead to chaos. Eli's family was destroyed because of his refusal to correct his sons, David's sin was paid for by the life of 3 of his children. We usually praise people outside and forget to appreciate our family members who are always there for us. Tell your family members how much they mean to you, tell them you love them and that their they have contributed to your success.
2. Who are you? The prodigal son knew his identity as a son. A son is a heir, he has a right to all that his father has. A slave is a servant for life, even his wife and children are also slaves of his master. Man became a slave to sin when Adam & Eve sinned in the garden of Eden. God bought us back to himself 1 Cor 6:19-20 and made us co-heirs with christ Rom 8:14-17, Gal 4:1-7. The prodigal son understood this principle, therefore his father granted his request vs 12. What you don't ask for you will not get Mat 7:7. You cannot ask for anything when you don't know your place as a son. Discover your IDENTITY in God.
3. It is your choice that matters. What makes men different from animals is their will-power, ability to make choices. God gave man varieties to chose from in the garden. The prodigal son chose to waste his inheritance. Your choices yesterday is the reason why you are where you are today. Your choices today will determine where you will be tomorrow! Choose wisely. Jabez chose to change his life, Esau chose to sell his birthright & Abraham chose to obey God. Sailing or gambling through life, the choice is yours.
4. There is a price for your action or inaction. Your choice may be private but the result is never private. David, Ham, Eli, Saul & Reuben brought curses on their generations because of their actions. Abraham, Noah and Jacob brought blessings on their generations because of their actions. The wasteful action of the prodigal son brought poverty on him & shame on his family vs 14. Imagine a prince struggling to eat the food of pigs! What a shame. Don't be deceived, you will reap what you have sown Gal 6:7. Nothing stays thesame, it will either increase or decrease. Make the right choices and act on them.
5. You will give an account. The prodigal son made the wrong choice. When the famine came, he had nothing. There is a day when you will give account of what you have been given Matthew 25:14-30.
What you sow is what you will reap Galatians 6:7.
Go ahead and work with what God has given you so you can have a bountiful harvest.
Do not be deceived nothing stays thesame, What does not increase will certainly decrease!
6. There is a time to work. The prodigal son decided to work at the wrong time- during the famine. There is a reward for hardwork when you do it at the right time. If he had worked with what his father gave him, it would have increased before the famine started! It is not enough to do the Right thing, do it at the Right time!
7. It is not yet over. The only man who does not have another chance is a dead man! Even if you have made mistakes in the past, God is ready to give you another chance like the prodigal son. Just go back to him and tell him you are sorry and repent genuinely.
It is never too late to start again, God never gives up on Men. Don't give up on yourself. There is hope for you because a tree that has been cut down will grow again at the scent of water.
Embrace the opportunities God has given you. Get up and start again. It does not matter how many times you have fallen as long as you press on till you finish the race.
You are destined to be the very BEST
